This large antique ceramic Daikoku figure is in fair to good condition with no cracks though it does have some small chips as well as marks and scratches from handling. There is also some loose material within the statue which can be heard moving about when the statue is tipped. The statue has a few very small holes at various places which may have been original to the firing process. There is also one larger hole on the statue's left side just below the sleeve which is visible and noted in the listing detail photos. This wonderful old statue dates from the early to mid 20th century and wears a darkened patina of age which we believe enhances the figure's character and appeal.

Large, vintage solid carved wooden image of Daikoku, Japan's god of wealth and good fortune. The old wooden Daikoku figure offered here is in fair condition with marks, scratches and small chips from handling. This large statue was carved from a single block of wood and finished with gold paint on the statue while the base was left unfinished and includes some natural tree bark. This wonderful old statue dates from the mid Showa period (1926-1989) and wears a darkened patina of age.

Fukusuke is one of the lesser known Japanese luck gods, though in the past he was sometimes associated with the famous Shichifukujin seven gods of luck. Like Maneki Neko beckoning luck cat statues Fukusuke figures are often spotted at the entrance to Japanese places of business.

This authentic ceramic Fushimi doll dates from the Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) and is today in fair condition with no cracks though the doll does have some small chips as well as marks and scratches from handling. The doll also wears a darkened patina suggestive of its age and many years of past display. This figure depicts the Japanese luck god Ebisu who is often seen in the company of a large fish (please read below to learn more about Ebisu). This particular doll doubles as a bell with a loose balls on the inside which can be heard to rattle when the figure is moved.

Authentic small size Japanese Daikoku mask display mask (kazarimen). This mask dates from the early 20th century and is in poor condition with chips, cracks, marks and scratches. The mask is made of papier-mache and is quite dusty and wears a darkened patina of age. This special artifact of Japanese culture was acquired in historic Shizuoka, Japan near the foot of Mt. Fuji.

Japan Ebisu Mask Shinto God of Fisherman - Kazarimen

Authentic antique papier-mache Japanese Ebisu display mask (kazarimen) made during the closing years of World War Two. This mask is in poor condition with a warped appearance as well as many chips, scratches and marks from handling. Japanese writing on the back of the mask reads Showa 18 which indicates the 18th year (1944) of the reign of the Showa emperor. The mask is also a bit dirty and wears a heavy dark patina of age. This beautiful artifact of Japanese culture was acquired in historic Shizuoka, Japan near the foot of Mt. Fuji.
