Japanese Ceramic Roof Tile - End Cap Onigawara Kawara
Price: $363.76

The onigawara roof end cap offered here has seen previous service atop a building somewhere in Japan. The end cap is without any large cracks though it does have a few small cracks which are likely original to the firing process. These small cracks do not seem to affect the structural integrity of the piece which is quite sound. The tile also has some small chips as well as marks and scratches over the entire surface and is a bit dirty and worn from years of outdoor exposure. There are some larger chips visible at the very front and center of the piece though these do not seem to detract and may in fact enhance the character of the piece.

Antique Japanese Scroll - Sumi-e Calligraphy Suibokuga
Price: $345.24

The scene depicted with this scroll features a man holding what may be a large piece of fruit while walking beside a large animal, possibly a deer or cow. The man in the painting may be wearing Chinese style clothing. Finding elements of Chinese culture in Japanese art is not surprising as the Japanese have for centuries admired the culture and art of China and did often incorporate elements of Chinese culture into their art. This scroll dates from the mid Japanese Showa period (1926-1989) or before and is today in poor condition with many wrinkles as well as tears, holes, stains and discoloration. The scroll and rollers may need some repair and cleaning before the piece is ready for display.

Boys Day Carp Banners - Complete Japanese Koinobori Set out-of-stock
Price: $248.95

Brand new complete set of Japanese koinobori carp streamers. Streamers such as these are traditionally flown in Japan by families with young boys in celebration of the traditional Japanese holiday of Boy's Day (now called "Children's Day"). The streamers are hoisted upon tall flagpoles where they billow and swim through warm breezes and can typically be seen from early April through the middle of May. The number of fish are usually taken to represent the number of males in the household and are invariably ordered with the largest fish (representing the eldest male) on top followed by subsequently smaller (younger) fish.
